The SOFC gas burner is a Hot BoP(Balance of Plant) that produce heat supply, fuel recirculation, and reduce CO and NOx generation to SOFC systems operating between about 600 and 1,000℃. The SOFC system includes start-up and shut-down operations in addition to rated operations, which include thermal expansion and cracking problems on the wall. Therefore, the burner requires a design capable of improving energy efficiency while extending the life of the equipment at a minimum cost. The well-known Harwell Furnace and Swirl Number 0.4 Vane were used in this study. Using SS310 through Ansys Fluent, a case study was conducted on the air-fuel ratio and design of swirler as variables, and the combustion efficiency and the temperature distribution of the wall were compared. As a result, it was confirmed that economical design was possible using cheaper material than SS310 while satisfying the combustion efficiency by changing the operating conditions and design of the burner. It is meaningful that the basic design of burners with high efficiency and high economic efficiency was proposed through the simulation results, and guidelines were suggested for the development of Hot BoP. |
