Recently, research on hydrogels with good elasticity, flexibility, and biocompatibility and wearable sensors is being actively conducted. Hydrogel is a three-dimensional polymer network structure composed of water and a polymer. However, the hydrogel has a drawback of changing physical properties such as adhesion and stretchability as water evaporates. In this study, new types of hydrogel P(ZIW-co-AMPS-co-AAm) was prepared by photo-polymerization of zwitterionic monomer 3-(1-vinyl-3-imidazolio) propanesulfonate (ZIW), 2-acrylilamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid salt (AMPSs), acrylamide (AAm). ZIW and AMPSs works as an ionic liquid (ZIW/AMPSs). This new hydrogel shows a high ionic conductivity and extraordinary increase in adhesion as water evaporates, while conventional hydrogel lost its adhesion in dehydrated state. As a result, this new hydrogel shows the possibility for wearable sensor material with a strong adhesion even after long-term use. |
