Energy used in buildings for heating/cooling has been in the energy consumption led to the development of electrochromic ‘smart windows’ which can flexibly change their optical state to regulate solar energy. This new class of quasi solid poly(Ionic liquid) PIL electrolyte was synthesized triazole-containing ionene via copper(I) catalysed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) activate cationic moiety, triazole group was quaternized with alkyl groups and subsequently underwent anion metathesis. This PIL based electrolyte blends with viologen exhibit remarkable improve ionic conductivity, optical transmittance, and electrochromic properties. Its performance was evaluated by sandwiching the new electrochromic material between two indium-tin oxide (ITO) glass. Its showing fast response time, high coloration efficiency and transmittance. |
