제목 | Fabrication of a biopolymer-based separator via simple synthesis for the next-generation battery. |
초록 | As a strategy for sustainable development, biodegradable polymers (biopolymers) are increasingly being applied in various industries instead of conventional petroleum-based synthetic polymers. Biopolymers are inexpensive, chemically stable, and exhibit excellent mechanical strength and adhesion. Based on these characteristics, research is conducted as components of Li-ion batteries such as binder or separator. Meanwhile, as the demand for high energy density batteries increased, Li-metal as the anode showed a potential to replace graphite. Li-metal batteries (LMBs) exhibited high theoretical capacity and low redox potential. However, LMBs should surmount the problems with lithium dendrites. In this study, a biopolymer-based separator for the LMB was fabricated using biopolymer and ion conductive polymer. Through simple synthesis, phase separation is induced to form each domain. In addition, we optimized the ion migration path by controlling the molecular weight of materials and the ratio of materials. The separator was applied to the LMB system, showed a low overpotential, meaning stability to Li-metal. |
