Porous films are used for various applications in our lives. Existing techniques for making porous films often use gas bubbles. However, this technique’s disadvantage is that the film should be thick enough because of gas bubble size. In this study, we introduce a new technique to solve this problem. We used the directional cooling crystallization method as a preparation of polymer films with thickness-through pores. By controlling the movement of a sample toward a liquid nitrogen reservoir, nucleation and growth crystals were regulated to produce uni-directional crystals of solvents. Using this technique, we prepared porous films in various conditions and analyzed the mechanical properties and structure of the films. Therefore, technique using directional cooling crystallization method can conveniently make through-thickness porous thin films. |
