A Flexible Piezoelectric Nanogenerator Based on Lead-free Piezoelectric Nanoparticle-Polymer Composite |

Lead-free piezoelectric nanoparticles which reduce the toxicity of lead-based materials have been adopted for piezoelectric energy harvesters. BaTiO3-based materials, one of the most commonly used lead-free piezoelectric materials, has high dielectric and ferroelectric properties. However, it still does not exhibit outstanding piezoelectricity compared to lead-based materials. We present a high-performance piezoelectric nanogenerator based on BZT-BCT (BCTZ) nanoparticles (NPs) with Ca and Zr-doping to BaTiO3 to obtain improved piezoelectricity. BCTZ NPs are synthesized by a sol-gel method and resulted in crystalline powders after calcination and sintering. A composite thin film comprising the as-prepared BCTZ NPs dispersed in polydimethylsiloxane matrix sandwiched between two conductive plastic substrates exhibits output voltage of 40 V and current of 4 μA during periodic bending-unbending motions. |
