제목 Amino acids mediated negatively charged surface enhance to antimicrobial and reduce surface friction
초록 Biomedical catheters as integral parts of modern medicine significantly improve the healthcare quality in the prevention, treatment, and remission of diseases. Recently, various catheters have contributed significantly to treat diseases during cardiovascular, urinary, and invasive procedures.

However, Catheters can cause damage to the mucous membrane of tissues or injuries to blood vessels during insertion. In the case of cardiovascular catheters, damage to blood vessels near the heart can be rapidly life-threatening and cause hemorrhagic shock. Also, catheters are prone to bacterial adhesion and biofilm formation by extracellular polymeric substances, which may result in subsequent bloodstream infections. Bacterial biofilm formation on the catheter is the leading cause of CAIs.
In this study, we developed an antifouling surface consisting of acid group on catheter. The developed surface demonstrated antifouling activity against the bacteria and proteins.
