The flexibility of the materials combined with transparency and high heat resistance makes such polymers one of the strongest candidates for a substrate for next generation displays, solar cells, and e-paper. We prepared novel polymeric composite films with both transparency and heat-resistance by solvent-casting cardo typed poly(arylene ethers) in the presence of silicon based inorganic materials and then modifying the surface of the resulting films. The prepared hybrid composite films were very flexible and tough as well as transparent. Based on TMA and Instron data, they showed excellent thermal and mechanical properties applicable as a plastic substrate for next flexible display. |
