Controlling segmentation of multi-component metal nanowire array via block copolymer lithography and bi-directional ion loading |

Spatial arrangement of 1D nanomaterials have good properties that give enormous opportunities for advanced electronics and photonics. Moreover, chemical diversity in the nanoscale components may offer special properties that are hardly expected in randomly distributed homogeneous nanostructures. Here, multi component metal nanowire array by using block copolymer patterning and subsequent reversible metal ion loading are demonstrated. Imposing multicomponent property in the nanowires generated by block copolymer patterning, reversible ion loading method highly specific for one polar polymer block is introduced. reversible metal ion loading can make area-selective partial replacement of metal ions in the self-assembled patterns and creates divided metal nanowire arrays with different metallic components. Further integrating this method with shear aligning process produces high aligned multicomponent metal nanowire array with desired local chemical compositions. |
