It is difficult to apply graphene oxide(GO), which can improve the mechanical, electrical and thermal properties, successfully to polyethylene(PE) resulting in the preparation of composite materials. The simple mixing of the non-polar PE and the polar GO gives a poor dispersion due to the inferior interfacial properties. Recent studies have shown that the addition of GO to the polyolefin modified with polar component improves both the dispersion and the mechanical strength. In this study, the dispersion of GO in polyolefin was improved by using styrene-maleic anhydride (SMA) grafted PE wax. In addition, diisocyanate additive was used not only to enable the chemical bonding between PE-SMA and GO but also to achieve higher heat resistance. SMA grafted PE wax worked as an effective additive for the dispersion GO in nonpolar matrix. |
