초록 |
Hydrogels are attractive materials for biomedical applications due to their versatility and excellent biocompatibility. But, It is not suitable for biomedical applications which requires high mechanic strength. In this experiment, we present the systematic development of mechanically enhanced triple interpenetrating polymer network (Tri-IPN) hydrogels with Young’s moduli rivaling those of natural load-bearing tissues. To incorporate the third network, the PEG-DA hydrogel was immersed in an acrylic amide monomer solution containing 2% v/v photoinitiator solution and 1% v/v TEGDMA as a crosslinking agent for 24 h. These materials attain "biomimetic" values for initial Young’s modulus in addition to high tensile strength and water content, low pH respondent. As such, they are promising new candidates for artificial replacement of natural tissues such as the cornea, cartilage, and other load-bearing structures. |
