The oxidative desulfurization(ODS) is considered to be one of the promising new methods for ultra deep desulfurization of fuel oil. Compared with conventional catalytic hydrodesulfurization(HDS), the ODS can be carried out under mild conditions. The ODS of model sulfur compounds and light cycle oil over Ti-SBA-15 catalyst was studied in a batch reactor and a continuous fixed-bed reactor with tert-butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) as oxidant. Effects of nitrogen compounds, aromatic solvents, and aprotic solvents on the ODS activity were also studied. In the presence of nitrogen compounds, the ODS activity of the Ti-SBA-15 catalysts decreased in the order: indole > quinoline > carbazole. The addition of poly-aromatic and aprotic solvents promoted the ODS conversion of refractory sulfur compounds which were explained by the high solubility of the oxidized S and N compounds. |
