제목 Reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization of adamantane substituted poly(methyl methacrylate)s
초록 Living radical polymerizations of 3-hydroxy-1-adamantyl methacrylate (HAdMA) and 2-ethyl-2-adamantyl methacrylate (EAdMA) were performed via the reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) method using 2-cyanoprop-2-yl 1-dithionaphthalate (CPDN) as a chain transfer agent. HAdMA exhibited controlled polymerization characteristics, that is, first order kinetics of polymerization, linear evolution of molecular weight with increasing monomer conversion, and narrow polydispersity index. When the same polymerization conditions were applied to EAdMA, methacrylic acid originated from the decomposition of EAdMA was observed. The details for the characterization of polymers will be given in the meeting.
