제목 Kinetic Study of the Reversible Addition-Fragmentation Chain Transfer (RAFT) Polymerization of Adamantyl-Substituted Methyl Methacrylate Derivatives
초록 Controlled/Living radical polymerizations of 3-hydroxy-1-adamantyl methacrylate (HAdMA) and 2-ethyl-2-adamantyl methacrylate (EAdMA) were performed using the reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) method in the presence of 2-cyanoprop-2-yl 1-dithionaphthalate (CPDN) as a chain transfer agent. The polymerization of HAdMA exhibited controlled/living polymerization characteristics such as pseudo first-order kinetics of polymerization, linear evolution of molecular weight with increasing monomer conversion, and narrow polydispersity index. In the same polymerization conditions, the decomposition of EAdMA to methacrylic acid was observed. A detailed characterization of the polymerizations will be given in the meeting.
