ABA Triblock copolymer of methyl methacralyte (MMA) and dodecyl metharylate (DMA) [poly(MMA-b-DMA-b-MMA)] was synthesized by sequential atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). Thus, dodecylmethacrylate (DMA) was first polymerized from the difunctional initiator of ethane-1,2-diyl bis(2-chloro-2-phenylacetate (EDBCPA) with combination of RuCl2(PPh3)3 and nBu3N in toluene at 80 C. As the conversion of DMA reached over 90 %, MMA, the second monomer, was directly added into the reaction solution and polymerized. Obtained triblock copolymers with various molecular weight fractions of the block segments showed controlled molecular weights with narrow polydispersity (PDI < 1.2), which were then examined the morphologies and the elastic properties for elastomeric electroactive materials. |
