제목 Self-Assembly of Gold Nanocrystals with Different Grafting Density
초록 The polymorphism of ligand-coated colloidal nanocrystal (NC) assembly has been enriched by changing various factors such as ligand, temperature, and solvent. Here, we present manipulation of polystyrene-coated Au NC (Au@PS) assembly structure by changing grafting density of PS. Au NCs were ligand exchanged by PS-SH with varied PS grafting density. TEM images showed that interparticle distance increased as grafting density increased, suggesting the polymers on Au surface were gradually stretched to reduce steric hindrance. The Au@PS particles were self-assembled using liquid-air interface assembly. TEM images and grazing incidence small-angle X-ray scattering (GISAXS) measurements revealed highly ordered Au@PS particles. In particular, we observed the transition of NC assembly structure from body centered cubic (bcc) to face centered cubic (fcc) upon grafting density increase. This work stresses the importance of ligand grafting density for controlling the superstructure of NCs.
