Hyperbranched polymers are characterized by a high density of peripheral area where many functional groups exist. Especially, poly(amidoamine)s have functional nitrogen and amide group which can form a complex with metal ions. Therefore, hyperbranched poly(amidoamine)s can be used as a metal ion container. We synthesized hyperbranched poly(amidoamine)s grafted onto silica particles which may find application in water purification. Detailed synthesis and characterization of the polymers and their metal ion absorption behaviors will be presented. |
