Cellulose nanofibers (CA) were coated with lignin induced CuO nanoparticles. CA nanofibers were in-situ deacetalized during lignin treatment as well, verified by FTIR-ATR spectra. The morphology of the nanofibers and CuO nanoparticles were analyzed by SEM, TEM, EDX, XRD, and XPS. The prepared mats exhibited excellent antibacterial efficacy against both gram-negative Escherichia coli and gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The initial burst release behavior of copper elements, the antioxidant activity owing to surface bound lignin, adequate MVTR values of 2100–1900 g/m2/day, and the proliferating capability (above 80%) of NIH3T3 cell on our prepared mats demonstrated the potentiality of such nanocomposites as a wound care material. |
