Metal/polymer hybrid NPs are widely useful materials for many applications such as photocatalysis, nanomedicine, and therapeutic agents. Even though several strategies to comprise hybrid NPs have been studied, plasmon-induced polymerization can be a powerful tool among other methods. The photopolymerization at the vicinity of nanoparticles took place by either electron transfer or plasmothermal effect, but the mechanism to initiate polymerization is still being controversial. In this work, we conducted to reveal for photopolymerization mechanism to build a photopolymer around the Au nanoparticles with acyclic acid as a monomer under the continuous-wave (CW) laser illumination with different excitation wavelengths. To identify the hybrid Au@PAA, we monitored the UV-Vis absorption spectra of Au LSPR and the morphological change was confirmed by TEM. Also, we characterized the chemical state of the products using Raman spectroscopy and MALDI-TOF. |
