Synthesis and Characterization of Sulfonated poly(arylene ether sulfone) Multiblock Copolymers for Vanadium Redox Flow Battery Applications |
초록 |
Most hydrocarbon-based membranes for vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) are not stable in the strongly acidic, oxidative entironment of the electrolytes. In this study, sulfonated poly(arylene ether sulfone) multiblock copolymers containing e-withdrawing linkage groups were synthesized. Sulfonated poly(arylene ether sulfone) hydrophilic oligomers and non-sulfonated poly(arylene ether sulfone) hydrophobic oligomers were synthesized in different length scale. Then, multiblock copolymers were synthesized from these oligomers by condensation reaction. The resulting polymers were characterized with H-NMR, IEC, proton conductivity, water uptake, vanadium permeability, chemical stability and VRFB cell performance. |
