Phase change materials(PCM) are "latent" energy storage materials. The thermal energy transfer occurs when a material change from a solid to a liquid, or from a liquid to a solid. In recent years, the application of phase change materials(PCM) has received increased attention due to its large storage capacity and isothermal nature of the storage process. This paper determines thermal properties of blends of UHMWPE(Ultra High molecular Weight Polyethylene) and n-octadecane as shape-stabilized phase change materials for thermal energy storage. The preparation methods used were the melting method and absorption methods. Shape stabilized PCM prepared for DSC, FTIR spectroscopy, results of the analysis of shape stability heat capacity to improve were identified. |
