The ships use a anti-fouling coating to prevent organisms from adhering to the hull in underwater. Nowadays, in addition to the purpose of protecting the hull, anti-fouling paint is also responsible for reducing the drag of ships. Frictional drag in ships is an important consideration, as it has a significant impact on fuel consumption. In order to reduce resistance of ships, this study developed SPC resins based on silyl acrylates and poly(ethylene glycol) methacrylates which have Tom’s effect. The structures of the synthesized resins were confirmed by FT-IR and other properties have been characterized. Furthermore, we mixed the paints based on these resins for application. Drag reduction performance of paints was evaluated by dynamometer and then, the basic properties and ecotoxicities were also measured.
