제목 Tumor Therapeutic Performance of pH/Redox-responsible carbon dot by emphasizing the photothermal effect of IR825
초록 We study the fluorescence performance of dual-responsive carbon dot (CD) as an “off-on” system via image conversion induction-controlled photothermal therapy (PTT). Carbon dots are designed from a carbonized disulfide crosslinked polymer loaded with IR825 (CD [IR825]) via hydrophobic interactions. In tumor cells, CD [IR825] is reduced by Glutathione (GSH) and disintegrated the disulfide bond of CD. It simultaneously breaks benzoic imine groups under low pH enabling fluorescence bioimaging and therapy under near-infrared (NIR) irradiation. Efficient uptake of CD [IR825] by tumor cells is showed during in vitro and in vivo test which also displays its effective killing capabilities and excellent biocompatibility. The system demonstrates excellent sensitivity towards cancer cells, which is a useful insight for cancer cell monitoring through fluorescent on/off systems, and for treating and diagnosing cancer cells. This was supported by Korea National University of Transportation in 2020.
