제목 Radiation synthesis of poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone)κ-carrageenan hydrogels for antibiotic drug delivery in diabetic ulcers
초록 Abstract - The purpose of this study was to develop antibiotic drug delivery systems with poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone)κ-carrageenan hydrogels (PVP-KC) and drug release properties for localized antibiotic delivery in diabetic ulcers. The PVP-KC hydrogels were prepared by gamma-irradiation at different doses and allowed to swell and release the antibiotic drug such as metronidazole in distilled water. The investigations of the effect of components on the gelation of PVP-KC were made and the gel fractions of the PVP-KC hydrogels were determined. Mechanical experiments were conducted for both unirradiated and irradiated samples. More than 80% of the entrapped metronidazole was released from the PVP-KC hydrogels after 2 h in water.
