To developing new optical pH chemosensors, we synthesized various methylene-1,4-dihydropyridine derivatives which can be used as fluorescence pH sensors. These compounds possess pH-sensitivefluorophores which are capable of reversible protonation and deprotonation process because oftheir structural interconversions depending on pH changes. Such organic dyes show a tendency to decrease their emissive intensitieswhen pH increases whin a certain pH range, so that they will be good fluorescence-based pH sensors. The structural modificationwidens thepH range of sensors. Their syntheses, spectral properties and pH sensing properties will be presented. |
