Co(II) Complexes Bearing (benzimidazolyl-alkyl-methylidene)-aryl Amines: Synthesis, Characterizations, and Their Catalytic applications to the on 1, 3-Butadiene Polymerization |

We have designed and synthesized a new series of Co(II) complexes based on (benzimidazolyl-alkyl-methylidene)-aryl amines ligands. The ligands were synthesized by the condensation between benzoimidazolyl-alkyl-methanones and corresponding 2,6-dialkyl substituted anilines. On activation with ethylaluminum sesquichloride (EASC), the Co(II) complexs showed high activities for the polymerization of 1,3-butadiene (BD). The polymerization was stereoselective towards cis-1,4 microstructure. The polymers are high molecular weight with polydispersity values between 2.12 and 2.74. The stereospecificity of the catalysts is consistent for a wide range of reaction conditions, except the formation of a considerable amount of 1,4-tans inserted units at high temperature. |
