Silicone based materials have attracted considerable attention from LED industries for use as encapsulants and lenses. Silicon- based materials are very stable when exposed to Ultra violet(UV) and blue light, high humidity, and high temperatures, which make them perfect candidates for the next generation materils in LED application. In this study, we focused on using polysilazane as a precursor to LED encapsulant materials. Polysilazane, along with polysiloxane, can be crossliked via various pathways to form materials with modulated hardness and elastic properties. We used radical hardening and hydrosilylation reaction pathways to cure polysiloxane-polysilazanes. The resultion materials showed enhanced hardness with excellent transparency. The detailed studies on material structure and its performance as a LED encapsulant or lens will be discussed. |
