To determine the effect of fluorinated on organic thin film transistor performance, polymerization of BDD and bithiophene, 3,3’-difluoro-2,2’-bithiophene respectively. That is, poly(2,2’-bithiophene-5,5’-diyl)-alt-(5,7-bis(2-butyloctyl)-4H, 8H-benzo[1,2-c:4,5-c’]dithiophene-4,8-dione-1,3-diyl)] (PT2-BDD) and poly-[(3,3’-difluoro-[2,2’-bitiophene]-5,5’-Diyl)-alt-(5,7-bis(2-butyloctyl)-4H,8H-benzo[1,2-c:4,5-c’]dithiophene-4,8-dione-1,3-diyl)] (PF2-BDD). Due to fluorinated, intra- and intermolecular interactions are strengthened, thereby making the backbone planarity as well as high crystallinity. Many say that this effect is suitable for hole transport of organic OTFT, but in this study, the hole mobility of PF2-BDD was 10 times lower than that of PT2-BDD. There are reasons such as solvent resistance, electron-negativity, and random orientation. Due to this study, It will be helpful to understand the effect of fluorinated in designing p-type conjugated polymers. |
