The introduction of new tailor-made urethane acrylate adhesive has extended the potential use of the coating materials. The chemical structure of oligomers and monomers determines the physical, mechanical, and thermal properties of a formulation before and after curing. The modification or change in the hard or soft segment, ratio, uses diluents, etc. of backbone can change the structure and properties of poly (urethane acrylate) (PUA). UV-curable polyurethane acrylates were formulated from the urethane-acrylate prepolymers, two types of reactive diluents having soft or hard monomer, isobornyl acrylate, and adhesion promoter. The effects of the type of diluents into polymer chain on thermal and dynamic mechanical properties of UV-cured polyurethane acrylate were studied. The structure and properties of the films obtained from UV photo-polymerization of urethane-acrylate prepolymer were examined by FT-IR spectroscopy, photo-DSC, DSC, dynamic mechanical measurement, and peel testing. |
