Concentrated efforts have been made tocombine materials science with four major ‘NBIC’ (nano-bio-info-cogno) convergencetechnologies, each of which is currently progressing at a rapid rate: (a) nanoscienceand nanotechnology; (b) biotechnology and biomedicine, including geneticengineering; (c) information technology, including advanced computing andcommunications; (d) cognitive science, including cognitive neuroscience. Chemically well-defined bio core@nano shell hybrid, which consistsof rationally designed DNA molecules core and spherical inorganic nanoshell, wasprepared via soft-chemical route. Thenano-convergence materials were addressed to be potentially applicable tonano-forensics, molecular traceability, and Avatar DNA system. We also described in vivo and in vitro delivery system for siRNA assembled with biodegradableinorganic particles conjugated with cancer-targeting ligands, and achieved3.0‐fold higher suppression of tumor volume in animal experiment. |
