Noble metal nanoparticles, in particular, gold (Au) and silver (Ag) nanoparticles exhibit unique optical properties arising from localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR). The excitation of such localized surface plasmons goes along with an enhanced absorption at the respective wavelength of the exciting light, which enables noble metal nanoparticles to have applications in sensory and photonic areas and in medical diagnostics. LSPR which is the resonant oscillation of conduction electrons strongly depend on the size and shape of metal nanoparticles. In this work, metal nanoparticles are employed for plasmonic substrates in surface-enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS) experiment. There are many ways to create metal nanostructures for SERS substrate. Here, metal nanostructures were fabricated by using polystyrene-block-poly(vinyl pyridine) and polystyrene-block-poly(acrylic acid) where metal ions are selectively loaded into the BCP microdomains. |
