Vertically aligned Zinc Oxide Nanotubes for High Sensitive Gas Sensing at Room Temperature |

Ultrahigh density array of free-standing and vertically aligned zinc oxide (ZnO) nanotubes on an ITO-coated glass are prepared by using nanoporous polyimide template followed by atomic layer deposition (ALD) of ZnO. All of ZnO nanotubes show good contact to ITO electrode. We found that the ultrahigh density array of ZnO nanotubes showed high sensitivity for ethanol and hydrogen gases even at room temperature and very low concentration (5 ppm) of the gases. The gas sensor employed in this study could also be used for the detection of special gases that are very volatile (or even explosive) at high temperatures and a tiny leakage of hazardous gases that damage significantly human health. |
