The mechanical and thermal properties of ultraviolet (UV) cured epoxy acrylate resin system were investigated using differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), thermo mechanical analyzer (TMA), dynamic mechanical analyzer (DMA) and thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA). UV curing of the epoxy acrylate resin systems was carried out in a conveyer type UV curing instrument. The photoinitiator used was 2-hydroxy-2-methyl-1-phenylpropan-1-one (Darocur 1173). The reactive diluents used were hexanediol diacrylate (HDDA), Trimethylol propane triacrylate (TMPTA) and 2-hydroxy ethyl acrylate (HEA). Glass transition temperatures of cured epoxy acrylate resin systems of various compositions were measured by DSC, TMA and DMA respectively, and they were compared with each other. The effects of total UV dosage, reactive diluent type and content on the thermo-mechanical properties of the epoxy acrylate resin system were investigated. |
