UV-curable monofunctional and difunctional acrylate derivatives having germanium, nitrogen, and sulfur atoms in their structures were synthesized. Optical films of the acrylate derivatives were prepared by the UV-irradiation of the designed difunctional or monofunctional acrylates mixed with a trifunctional acrylate. The monomer mixtures were spin-coated onto a silicon wafer and baked at 100℃(4 h) after UV-radiation for 3min with radical initiator. Refractive indices of these polymers were observed with a range from ca. 1.5 to 1.6 (λ= 850 nm), which were somewhat higher refractive indices compared with conventional polyacrylates. The acrylate derivatives with sulfur atoms showed higher refractive indices than other acrylate derivatives. The refractive index of polymer material could be controlled through changing monomer content inducing high refractive index. |
