The morphology of the particles that undergo phase separation in the Janus form is controlled by the surrounding continuous phase material. Using this, the polymer and liquid crystal mixture were used to show maximized phase separation behavior. Finally, the droplet consisted of silicone oil and RMM727, which can be UV-cured to maintain the shape without a continuous phase material. In the manufacturing process, a small liquid crystal sphere was made using a glass capillary device of a microfluidic system in order to produce fine particles with no limitation in reagents. In addition, for produce the Janus droplet most simply, a single droplet, which is a mixture of various reagents in a desired ratio, was induced by evaporation of the solvent only to phase-separate. At this time, it was observed that polymer and liquid crystal exhibit various morphologies by controlling surface conditions. |
