Nucleic acids are powerful materials for nanostructure and bio-nanotechnology. A variety of DNA structures have been developed and reported but RNA structures are extremely rare. We developed the robust and free-standing RNA membrane using an enzymatic method. This macroscopic RNA structure was fabricated by following two steps, complementary rolling circle transcription (cRCT) and evaporation-induced self-assembly (EISA). In addition, properties of the membrane can be controlled by adjusting base-pairing number. In this research, we fabricated three types of RNA membranes and used these membranes for drug release systems. |
