Preparation of Nylon-Chitosan Membrane and Its Application in Metal Ion Adsorption |

Composite membranes of nylon-6/chitosan nanofibers with different weight ratio of nylon-6 to chitosan were fabricated successfully using electrospinning. The adsorbtion ability of the membrane for Pb(II) ions in aqueous solution by membrane filtration method was studied. The adsorption data of Pb(II) were determined by a spectrophotometric method and ionic conductivity. The adsorbtion capacities was encreased as higher concentration of chitosan. At the weight ratio 70/30 of nylon-6/chitosan, the adsorbtion rate 370mg Pb(II)/gram chitosan was obtained. Morphologies of the nanofibers before and after were investigated by Field emission scanning electron microscopes (FESEM). From these results it is clear that the removal ability of heavy metals in aqueous solutions is possible with nylon-6/chitosan membrane. |
