Thermal diffusivity of graphite polyamide nanocomposites |

Graphite and graphitic intercalation compound were used as thermally conductive fillers to enhance the thermal diffusivity of polyamides (PA66, PA6 and PA12), prepared by melt mixing at filler content up to 20 vol%. Highly compact 3-dimensional conductive pathways formed in GIC based composites. Expanded graphite and graphite nanosheets were observed. Thermal diffusivity (TD) of PA/GICs was increased even at low filler content. Thermal diffusivity of PA12/graphite nanocomposites was lower than that of PA66 and PA6 nanocomposites. Thermal diffusivity of PA12/GIC (20 vol %) was ~ 25.4×10³ cm²/s which is 18 times higher than that of pure PA12.
