3D Nanostructured CNT based Conversion type anode for high performance Li-ion Battery |

For the next-generation lithium-ion battery, conversion-type anode materials are getting attraction. Tin oxide (SnO2) is one of the superior conversion-type material, and it shows a high theoretical capacity (1494 mAh g-1). Here, we report a rationally designed 3D-nanostructured CNT-SnO2 composite that exhibits good cyclic performance. For that, bonded with C-Sn of CNT-SnO2 affords to make less resistance to the electron transfer. Furthermore, the Quantumsize Sn particles embedded over the CNT enables for higher Li ion diffusion. As a result, nano sized CNT-SnO2 shows superior reversible specific capacity (1785 mAh g-1) at 1 C on 500th cycles. It also shows exorbitant increasing capacity (775 mAh g-1) at a high C-rate of 10 C after 5000th cycles. This report would open up for the systemic design of anode materials to realize high capacity and high-rate conversion materials for energy storage devices. |
