The object of this study is to develop self-healing microcapsules containing isocyanate. Isocyanates are potential healing agents in humid and wet conditions. Microencapsulations of isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) were conducted via interfacial polymerization of polyurethane (PU) as a shell material. The PU shell formed via the reaction between the NCO and OH groups. PUs have advantages of facile control of their properties according to their composition. For example, PUs have excellent properties such as water-resistance, weather-resistance, and facilitation of design depending on the intended use. The storage stability of the prepared microcapsules were found to be relatively good. |
