Selenium is in thespotlight for electrochemical HER and OER due to its unique electrical conductivity andelectronic structure. In addition, Ni, Fe, W, Co, Mo, Cu, etc. are also used toenhance water electrolysis activity. In particular, NiFe materials havedemonstrated decreasing kinetic barriers in the OER. We used NiFe foam (NFF) asa substrate, which has the advantages of Ni foam as well as excellentmechanical strength. Through one-pot hydrothermal method, we reacted variousmetals and Se on NFF. Among prepared catalysts, W/Se/NFF (218 mV), Co/Se/NFF(318 mV) perform the highest OER, HER activity, driving the current densitiesof 100 mA cm-2, respectively. These two samples had different crystal structurefrom other samples. W/Se/NFF has additional Fe species particles, and Co/Se/NFFhas cobalt selenide, not Ni3Se2. Currently, we areanalyzing the possibility of full-cell using the two samples as anode andcathode. |
