The synthetic methodology for various chain-end multi-functionalized polyisoprene with definite dimethylamino groups has been designed via living anionic copolymerization . They are based on three-step addition reactions of 1-(4-dimethylaminophenyl)-1-phenylethylene and styrene to poly(isoprenyl)lithium using sec-butyllithium as the initiator in benzene at room temperature. The amine functionality was readily controlled by various monomer feed ratio according to copolymerization composition equation. At the chain end of result multi-functionalized polyisoprene, the amine functionalities were 0.72, 1.68, 2.68 when the the monomer feed ratio of styrene to 1-(4-dimethylaminophenyl)-1-phenylethylene were 2.0, 1.0 and 0.5, respectively and monomodal, narrow molecular weight distribution ( =1.02) were obtained characterized by Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC) and 1H-NMR spectroscopy. |
