제목 Fabrication of Polyaniline Nanoparticle for Optically Transparent Conducting Application
초록 Polyaniline (PANI) has been considered as an important conducting polymer because of its potential applications such as antistatic materials, anticorrosion coatings, batteries and energy storage, catalysts, and chemical sensor. To date, most of PANIs have been mainly synthesized by the precipitation, dispersion, and emulsion polymerization, resulting various morphologies of PANIs with micrometer or submicrometer dimensions. Recently, several researchers have synthesized polymer nanoparticles using microemulsion polymerization. This approach utilizes the nanometer-sized micelles as “nanoreactor”, which were formed from self-assembly of various surfactants. However, PANI nanospheres with dimension less than 10 nm have not been reported yet, and it still remains as challenging to synthesize highly conductive PANI nanoparticles. Herein, we report the fabrication of monodisperse and nanometer-sized PANI spheres as small as 4 nm using microemulsion polymerization. The size of PANI nanoparticle was evaluated as functions of different surfactants, surfactant concentration and polymerization temperature. We also investigated the conductivity of PANI nanoparticles depending on the polymerization temperature and surfactants. On the basis of nanosize and high conductivity, PANI nanoparticles could be applied as optically transparent conducting materials.
