제목 | Synthesis and characterization of Nafion-fumed Silica hybrid membrane |
초록 | In the Redox Flow Battery, the most common separator used as proton conducting membrane (PEM) is Nafion. In this study, Nafion hybrid membranes with inorganic component (fumed silica) added are synthesized with the desire that fumed silica particles will act as fillers on the structure of Nafion. In this work, Nafion-fumed silica hybrid membranes are synthesized by the solution-casting method. The content of silica in the composite membranes is varied from 0 to 5% wt. After synthesized, the hybrid membranes are activated by a standard process. The composite membranes will be characterized by Scanning Electronic Microscopy (SEM) and Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS). The ion conductivity of the membranes is measured by using Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS). The crossover of vanadium ions through the membranes is measured by using UV-vis Spectroscopy. |
