Synthesis and device performances of phenyl substituted spirobifluorene phosphine oxide based triplet host materials |

Spirobifluorene phosphine oxide based high triplet energy host materials with phenyl substituent at different positions of the spirobifluorene were synthesized and the device performances were correlated with the chemical structure. The substitution position of the phenyl unit have changed the device performances of the blue phosphorescent organic light emitting diodes. The substitution of the phenyl group at meta position was effective to obtain high quantum efficiency and the maximum quantum efficiency of the blue phosphorescent device was 23.2%. The host material with phenyl substituted at ortho position showed 17.1% quantum efficency, while para substituted host material showed the lowest quantum efficiency of 7.2%. The exciplex formation at the interface between the triplet host and hole transport material lowered the quantum efficiency of the ortho and para substituted triplet host material. |
