Layer-by-layer(LbL) films were prepared between poly(diallyl dimethyl ammonium chloride) (PDDA) and sulfonated poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide) (sPPO). PPO has good thermal/mechanical properties. and it’s highly sulfonated analogs exhibit good proton conductivity but poor methanol permeability. LbL technique has advantage in control of ionic conductivity and permeability of membrane. So, the methanol permeability of sPPO with high degree of sulfonation was tried to be modified by LbL technique. Other properties of membrane were also investigated. As a result, all LbL membranes` proton conductivity and methanol permeability were decrease as the number of layer was increased. All of the membranes’ selectivities were better than Nafion 117. |
