Piezoelectric materials are used to harvest electricity directly from mechanical energy. To achieve flexible and durable organic piezoelectric devices with high output power, the electrode material should be highly conductive and have very high interfacial interaction with piezoelectric materials. A highly conductive polymer, PP-PEDOT, was directly polymerized onto a piezoelectric PVDF film. A more transparent and efficient all organic piezoelectric device was fabricated without going through a high temperature process or complex transfer method required for the fabrication of inorganic electrode. Moreover, the surface energy of the PP-PEDOT electrode was matched well to that of the PVDF, allowing highly adherent and mechanically stable interface between them. Finally, a self-lighting system was demonstrated under a dynamic stretching condition, allowing for large-scale, low-cost production of a miniaturized active thin-film energy harvester. |
