Synthesis and Properties of Poly(glycidyl azide-co-tetramethylene glycol)-based Polyurethanes with Fluorinated Plasticizers |

Fluorinated plasticizers with clickable alkyne groups as reactive plasticizers are synthesized to investigate the ability on improving processibility and energetic performance of polyurethane binders. Since the fluorinated compounds can react with aluminum or other metal called as the thermite reaction and give off energy, the use of these compounds is expected to increase the energetic performance of energetic binders. For the use as the reactive plasticizers, plasticization of these compounds with poly(glycidyl azide-co-tetramethylene glycol) (PGT) prepolymers is performed by measuring miscibility and viscosity, as well as , the reactivity of “click” reaction between alkyne group and azido group is investigated. The most important part is that the thermite reaction between the fluorinated reactive plasticizer and aluminum in PU binders. Al crucible and high pressure crucible DSC measurements are used to assess the thermite reaction. |
