Biogas plants, the biological mediated process to that organic wastes for the energy production in form of CH4, apply codigestion approaches to maximize the ME productivity. A fragment and usual upset is caused during the overload of biogas reactors with lipid-rich-substrates, which might result in accumulation of LCFA produced via the rapid hydrolysis of lipids. The anaerobic degradation of LCFA occurs with the BOX and the inhibition caused by LCFA relies to the accumulation of the major produce of BOX that prevent LCFA to be further oxidized. Therefore, to confirm the effect at MC level, OA as a LCFA was injected at various conc. into food wastes and performance for ME production was observed. As a result, the total ME gas increased by conc. of OA, while the initial lag phase(LP) for ME production was lengthened. In addition, SCFA increased during the LP, which postulated that OA was decomposed by MC. To confirm, MC was analyzed; the result showed correlation between OA conc. and MC. |
