Silica-coated particles were synthesized of using a 1,3-Dimethylimidazolium iodide. The Stӧber method has been adopted to coat silica on the surface of these cation particles. The resulted 1,3-Dimethylimidazolium-silica particles were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). Then, the fabrication of a Water-repellent particle surface was achieved by a coupling reaction of the 1,3-Dimethylimidazolium iodide particle surface with nonafluorohexyltriethoxysilane. The water and oil static contact angle on the surface of the particles were 152o and 101o respectively. |
